How do I take the course?
We offer a variety of ways to take the CELTA with Live Language:
13-week intensive Mixed Mode CELTA courses – Teaching practices are split between online and 2 weeks face-to-face at our centre in Glasgow. During the first part of the course candidates study online and attend one Team Meeting on a Wednesday evening from 5.30pm – 7pm (UK time). The face-to-face Teaching Practice takes place over 2 weeks in our city centre language school in Glasgow. You can watch a short video about the Mixed Mode CELTA here.
10-week / 11-week online CELTA courses – Teaching practice takes place two evenings per week (Tuesday and Thursday, 5.30pm – 8pm UK time) and there is one Team Meeting per week (Wednesday, 5.30pm – 7pm) which all candidates must attend. Input is completed by working through our Learner Management System units at a time which suits you. We recommend candidates should spend 26-27 hours per week in total working towards their CELTA qualification.
However you decide to complete your CELTA, you will receive the same high standard of training from our experienced and friendly tutors. You will also receive the same certificate whether you decide to take the course face-to-face or online.Click here to download our CELTA application form, complete it and send it to celta@live-language.com.
If your application meets the criteria Cambridge is looking for, you will be asked to arrange an online interview to suit your schedule. The interview takes no more than one hour. You will be asked questions about any qualifications you have, your work experience and any teaching experience you have. We will go over your Pre-Interview Task and talk about any questions you may need to understand better. Finally, you will be asked to write a short answer and send it to your interviewer which should take about 20 minutes.
If your interviewer feels you are not ready yet to start the CELTA they will give you advice and recommendations on what to do to get you ready.
As our CELTA courses are very popular we ask all candidates who are offered a place to secure their place by paying a £300 deposit within 7 days of acceptance. Places are offered on a ‘first come first served’ basis and we always recommend applying sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.– Methodology input

Whichever mode of delivery you choose, the CELTA is very demanding. It requires a lot of time, motivation and energy, as well as the ability to work under stress.– New teachers with no experience at the start of their career.

Our teacher has been absolutely fantastic. I cannot praise her more highly. She has been patient with us but with the correct balance of challenge to keep us working hard!
Alex, Colombia
My teacher was very patient and friendly, went at a good pace and you could work on what you had learned at home to consolidate what you learned in class. Loved it.
